Claude Code is Anthropic's agentic coding tool. It reads a codebase, edits files, runs commands and commits changes from a terminal, and it is also available in IDEs and on the web and desktop apps. Developers describe a task in natural language and the agent plans and carries it out step by step, asking for permission before risky actions.
Claude Code is bundled with paid Claude plans rather than sold separately: Pro costs $20 per month ($17 per month billed annually), Max is $100 per month and Ultra $200. Usage is shared with regular Claude chat and is limited per five-hour window and per week. The free Claude plan does not include it. Heavy users can switch to pay-as-you-go API credits through a Console account. The tool suits developers who are comfortable in the command line and want an agent that works across an existing repository.
