As of mid-2026 the consumer app serves a preview of DeepSeek-V4, the company's latest model generation, released in April 2026 as open weights under an MIT license in two sizes: V4-Pro, a 1.6T-parameter mixture-of-experts model, and the smaller V4-Flash. Both support a 1M-token context window, and the company reports strong coding benchmark results for the family.
The consumer chat has no paid tier; the entire app is free, with the company monetizing through API usage pricing for developers. Because the weights are openly licensed, the models can also be downloaded and run locally, including for commercial use.
