About Devin

Devin is a software engineering agent from Cognition. Instead of suggesting code inside an editor, it takes a task such as fixing a bug, migrating a library, or writing tests, works in the cloud or on the developer's machine, tests its own work in a browser, and keeps going until a pull request is ready for a human to review. Tasks can be assigned by tagging Devin in Slack or Microsoft Teams, by assigning a Linear issue, or by turning a Jira ticket into a pull request, and large jobs can be split across several cloud agents running in parallel. It is aimed at engineering teams that have a backlog of well-defined, repetitive work, such as dependency upgrades, test coverage, small feature requests, and documentation fixes. Scheduled automations can also react to failed CI runs and alerts. Human review of the resulting pull request remains the expected final step.

Devin is sold through plans that also cover agent-assisted coding. The Free plan carries a light quota to code with agents, limited model availability, and unlimited inline edits and Tab completions. Pro costs $20 per month and adds higher quotas, frontier models from several providers, and access to Devin Cloud. Max costs $200 per month for significantly higher quotas, and Teams costs $80 per month plus $40 per full developer seat for up to 200 users. Enterprise pricing is custom. Allowances refresh daily and weekly, and usage beyond the allowance is billed at API pricing. The pricing page does not state a per-task cost, because the cost per message varies with the model and the size of the task, so the work covered by a plan is easiest to judge by running a trial on real tickets.
